Finally figured out why my DVR kept cutting off the last 3 minutes of every show finale

It took me 7 months to realize my recording padding was set to 0 minutes. I just thought the network was weird about timing. Missed the endings of like 5 finales including the big one for that sci-fi show everyone talked about. Finally caught it when I sat down to watch the Yellowstone finale and it cut off right as Beth was about to say something. Has anyone else had this dumb setting ruin a finale watch?

That stretch on the JMT near Muir Pass nearly broke me

Last August I was hiking the John Muir Trail and hit a 12 mile stretch between Muir Pass and Evolution Creek that was brutal. Sun was beating down, no shade, and my water filter clogged halfway through. I ended up rationing my last liter for 6 hours until I reached the creek. Anyone else ever hit a section that just drained everything out of you?

Turbo went out on I-40 near Flagstaff yesterday. What a mess.

I was hauling a load of lumber back from Phoenix and the turbo let go just past the exit for Flagstaff. Had black smoke pouring out the exhaust and lost all power going up the grade. I had to call a tow to the nearest shop in Williams and it cost me $2,800 for a new turbo and labor. Has anyone else had a turbo fail on a Cummins ISX and found a way to spot it coming?

I always used a cotton swab with a bit of lighter fluid, wiping across the blade. This M3 had a sticky shutter and after my usual clean, it was still slow. I looked closer with my loupe and saw I was just pushing the old grease into the pivot points. The guy who trained me back in 2010 always did it that way, so I never questioned it. Now I use a pointed peg wood to gently clean each pivot hole first. Has anyone else found a better method for those tiny blade axles?

My smart doorbell just showed my neighbor's feed for 15 minutes

Happened yesterday afternoon. I opened the app to check a package delivery. Instead of my porch, I'm looking at a guy I've never seen walking a dog. I recognized the building across the street. It was my neighbor's camera feed, clear as day. I closed the app, reopened it, same thing. Finally rebooted my phone and it fixed itself. That's a huge glitch. My private video stream just swapped with someone else's. Makes you wonder what they saw on their end. Has anyone else had a smart home device completely mix up data like that?
