inHit 2,000 miles on my ebike commute to the office in Council Bluffs
The $60 repair number is what flipped me, figured bikes cost more to keep up.

inPSA: I called the Aeropress a gimmick for 2 years, then a guy in Tulsa handed me one and I felt dumb
Tbh I read a thing on a coffee sub a while back where a guy swore his french press made better coffee than his machine, and everyone in the comments roasted him until he posted side by side results. That campout story makes sense though, cause the Aeropress is basically built for bad conditions, low heat water and no timing. Ngl it's humbling when a cheap plastic thing beats the setup you spent way too much on.

inRead a sourdough post saying discard is a myth, now I feel silly about the bucket in my fridge
Cut mine to 20 grams after reading the same thing and my loaves never changed. Felt dumb staring at that jar I'd been feeding like a pet for two years.

inOur City Council voted down a simple bus lane pilot last Tuesday and I need to know if we can still push back
Main Street died 4 to 3 but that does not mean it's gone for good. In my town we lost a road diet vote 5 to 2 back in 2019, then got it passed 14 months later by getting two council seats flipped in the next election. Your best move right now is figuring out who is up for re-election and whether the two new members might be more open to it. Also ask the city clerk about the rules for bringing a failed item back, some places make you wait a year, some let you do it anytime with a new sponsor. In the meantime, get those business owners who support the lane to show up and speak next time, because the anti side only won by making it look like everyone hated it.
