The second season of Journeyman deserved a proper ending

I keep seeing folks list Journeyman as just another time travel show that got the axe, but nobody mentions the real problem. The writers spent season one building toward a single mystery, who sent him back, and they never got to answer it. I rewatched the whole run last month and counted at least five dangling threads, including his brother's role and the future newspaper clue from episode 3. That kind of setup needs a payoff, not a cliffhanger that NBC just let die. Anyone else track the specific plotlines they wanted resolved, or am I the only one keeping a notebook on canceled shows?

The 'Surface' revamp in October 2022 changed how I watch canceled shows

I saw Apple TV+ quietly drop all 8 episodes of 'Surface' at once instead of weekly. That made me actually finish it, but I still can't get over how it ended right as Gugu Mbatha-Raw found out her memory was wiped on purpose. The whole first season felt like one long setup episode, so I wanted a second season to see her either forgive or wreck her husband. Has anyone heard if they're planning a proper follow-up, or is it just stuck in limbo like every other streaming show?

Appreciation post: rewatching Deadwood after losing my dad made it hit way different

I binged Deadwood back in 2012 and thought it was just a slow western, but after my dad passed last spring I rewatched it and suddenly all the scenes about building something from nothing and loyalty clicked way harder. Comparing my first watch to now is like two totally different shows, the pacing that bored me before now feels like real life where nothing wraps up neat. Anyone else have a canceled show that changed meaning for them after some life event?

Paid $85 for a full season box set, then the show got canceled before the finale aired

I shelled out for the complete series of that space cop drama on DVD last March, and two weeks later they announced no season two, so now I'm stuck with 13 episodes that end on a cliffhanger and a case that never gets solved, anyone else ever drop serious cash on a show that died early and regret it?

Chose a one-season wonder over a 5-season hit for my rewatch, no regrets yet

Tbh I picked rewatching 'Terriers' over finally starting 'Breaking Bad' last weekend, mostly because I only had 13 episodes of free time. It held up way better than I remember, that beach episode still hits. Anyone else got a short-lived show they keep going back to instead of the big ones?

Terra Nova got axed right when the 6th season would've been wild

I was rewatching the finale last week on my couch in Akron and it hit me all over again. They set up that whole alternate timeline with the bad guy returning and the colony splitting, then Fox just pulled the plug after 1 season. The show had like 60 episodes planned in their heads, and we never even got to see the dinosaurs turn into the real threat. Has anyone else found a fan wiki with what the writers wanted to do next, or is it just me?

The friend who told me to skip the last season of The Glades was so right

My buddy Mark kept saying the show ended on a cliffhanger that never gets resolved, so just pretend the finale doesnt exist. I finally caught up on Hulu last month and watched the canceled season 4 opener anyway. Worst 42 minutes of my week, he was absolutely right. Did anyone else get burned by a network killing a show right when the main story was heating up without any warning?

That time my DVR died and I realized Swamp Thing only got 10 episodes

My old DVR ate my whole Swamp Thing season pass last Tuesday, and when I went to re-add it the app said the show was canceled after just one season. I was so mad at the hardware, then I looked it up and found out they filmed 13 but only aired 10. Anyone else still bitter about that DC Universe purge and what they would have done with those 3 missing episodes?

Ngl, I ran into a stranger at a coffee shop in Portland last year who literally started crying when I brought up The OA season 2 ending. She said she'd been waiting 4 years for an answer on that ambulance scene. I still want to know what happened in that invisible river dimension or whatever it was called.

Overheard a guy at the library say 'Firefly is overrated' and I almost dropped my book

I was sitting near the reference section and this dude just blurts it out to his friend. Said the show only had 14 episodes and didn't deserve the hype. But like, that's exactly why it ended too soon, we barely got to know the crew. Serenity the movie helped but there was so much more they could have done with the Alliance and the Reavers. Has anyone else run into people who think a short run means a show wasn't special?

Had to pick between finishing Dead Like Me or Journeyman. I chose wrong.

I got into both these shows around the same time during a sick week last year. Dead Like Me had that whole weird reaper vibe but Journeyman had this time travel mystery that really hooked me. I figured I'd finish Dead Like Me first since it had more episodes. But honestly the series finale felt really rushed and incomplete. Now I keep wondering about that Journeyman cliffhanger and wish I had watched it instead. Anybody else have regrets about the order they binged shows that got canceled?

My cousin the bartender made me rethink why I still watch canceled shows

I was complaining to my cousin Dave at his bar in Chicago about how I still rewatch Freaks and Geeks every year and he said 'you're not mourning the show, you're mourning the potential of what it could have been.' That hit different because he's right, I keep imagining those 5 more seasons that never happened. Has anyone else realized they're stuck on the idea of a show instead of what we actually got?

Spent $150 on a cheap drone for a show I loved

I dropped $150 on a knockoff drone from Amazon to film some aerial shots for a fan project of this show 'The Divide' that got canceled after one season. The drone crashed into a tree on the third flight and the camera is stuck facing sideways. Now I'm out the cash and have nothing to show for it. Is that actually true or was it Fox just messing with the schedule? Because I remember spending my allowance on the DVD box set later and being crushed there was only one season. What do you think killed it more - low ratings or bad time slots?

Blew $120 on a DVD box set of a canceled show, then it got streaming

Ngl, I dropped $120 on the complete DVD set of 'Deadwood' back in 2018 because it got canceled after season 3 and I wanted to see how it ended. The set was pricey but came with all those extra features and commentaries. Then last year it hits HBO Max streaming for free and I'm sitting here with these discs collecting dust. Tbh, buying physical media felt like a safe bet for a show that got the axe early, but now I'm debating if it actually saved me from buffering issues or just burned my wallet. The picture quality on the DVDs is solid, no compression weirdness, but the convenience of streaming is hard to beat. On the flip side, if the streaming rights ever change or the show gets yanked, I've got my discs to fall back on. Has anyone else dropped serious cash on a canceled series box set only to see it pop up online later? What's your move on this? Do you stick with physical or accept the streaming gamble?

I keep seeing people say Deadwood ended on a cliffhanger but the real tragedy is we never got the third season we were promised before they wrapped it up in a movie, lol. Does anyone else think the movie cheapened what could've been a legendary final season?

The week my favorite show got canceled and I lost a whole friend group over it

Back in 2019, I was deep into this sci-fi show called The Passage. It had like 3 episodes left in season 1 when Fox pulled the plug. I had this whole online group I talked to daily about theories and character arcs. The day the cancelation hit, our chat went silent for 48 hours. One guy actually deleted his account because he was so mad. I still wonder what they would have done with that virus storyline in season 2. Anyone else lose an online community when a show got axed?

TIL that guy who told me to stop using 3 different knives for dinner prep was right all along

My buddy Hank, who worked at a kitchen supply store in Portland, kept telling me to just stick with one good chef's knife for everything except bread. I spent 5 years juggling a paring knife, a slicer, and a cleaver like a fool. Made dinner for my brother's family of 6 last week and used just my 8-inch Wusthof the whole time. Had to pick between finishing Firefly or giving up on it... I went with the movie version

Back in 2018 I finally started watching Firefly knowing it got cancelled after one season. I had two choices: watch the 14 episodes then Serenity the movie, or save the movie for later if I wanted more. I watched the movie right after the finale and honestly it felt rushed. Joss Whedon crammed like 2 seasons of plot into 2 hours and some characters barely got screen time. I wish the show had gotten a proper season 2 instead. Would have been cool to see more of Shepherd Book's backstory and what happened with the Alliance after Miranda. Has anyone else gone through the show and movie back to back and felt the same?

I got really bummed when they killed 'The Society' on Netflix after that cliffhanger. I spent like 3 weeks just mad about it. Then I tried watching fan-made edits on Youtube that pieced together what the second season might have been about based on the scripts that leaked. Some creator named 'TVFixer22' had a 45-minute video that honestly gave me more satisfaction than the actual show did. It felt like getting a tiny window into what could have been. Has anyone else found a good fan project that helped them move on from a canceled show?

Still pissed about 'Terriers' getting axed after one season

That show was so good. Had this private investigator vibe but not all serious. The chemistry between the two leads was perfect and they had just set up this big mystery about the development guy. Read somewhere that the network basically didn't promote it at all and then complained about ratings. Been 15 years and I still check every once in a while to see if anyone's trying to bring it back. Anyone else stuck on a show that nobody else seems to remember?
