I was reading through some coding guides last week and came across a stat that said over 80% of coding bootcamps start with Python for complete beginners. That really surprised me because I always thought JavaScript or HTML would be the go-to since you can see results right away in a browser. I started with HTML and CSS myself about six months ago and it made sense to me visually. But after looking into it more, Python does have a really simple syntax that avoids a lot of the curly braces and semicolons that tripped me up early on. I guess what I'm wondering is whether starting with Python actually makes the harder languages easier down the road or if it just delays the confusion. Has anyone here tried switching from Python to something like Java or C++ and found it was smoother than starting with those from scratch?

I bought a set of load cells off Amazon for like 70 bucks last month. Big mistake man. I was running a 12 ton pick on a site in Austin and one of them gave a bad reading by a full 2 tons. Lucky I had a backup manual check or I could have dropped the whole thing. The guy I work with warned me about this stuff but I thought I was saving money. Now I'm out the 70 bucks plus the time to swap them out. Has anyone else dealt with cheap sensors failing on a job? I'm thinking of just going with a name brand next time but the price jump is wild.

Found out my old Spirograph set is worth $200 now

I was cleaning out my mom's attic last weekend and found my old Spirograph set from the 80s. The box was beat up and a few gears were missing, so I figured it was trash. Out of curiosity I checked eBay and was floored to see complete sets going for over $200. Turns out the original 1960s and 80s versions are collector items now, especially if you have the ring gear and all the shape templates. I never would have guessed that something I used to draw wonky circles with would be worth that much. Makes me wonder what other old toys I threw away that might be sitting in someone else's garage. Anyone else find out a childhood toy is worth way more than you expected?
