I ran my contractor quote through 4 AI estimators, here's the one that actually got it right

I had to price out a fence replacement for a client in Spokane. The guy wanted cedar, 240 linear feet, on a slope. I usually just eyeball it and eat the cost if I'm low. Last week I fed the same job specs into four different AI estimating tools just to see what came back. One said $8,200. Another said $14,600. The third gave me a materials list that included 3x the number of posts I'd ever use. The fourth one, which I'd never heard of before, asked for the slope angle in degrees, the frost depth, and whether the client wanted gates on both sides. That one came back at $11,850 and I ended up bidding $11,900. Client took it. I've already ordered materials and my margin is actually there. The other three were basically fancy calculators. The one that asked questions felt like it was learning the job, not just guessing. Has anyone else found that the AI tools which ask follow-up questions are way more reliable than the ones that just spit out a number?

Debate: do you feed GPT your raw data or summarize it first?

I spent 3 days testing two ways of using AI to analyze customer feedback for a small ecommerce site. One side: feed it the raw CSV with messy comments and let the AI figure out patterns. Other side: clean and summarize the data yourself first, then ask specific questions. I tried the raw method and got some wild insights I never would have found, but also a bunch of noise. The summarised version was cleaner but missed some subtle complaints about shipping times. Curious what others do here, especially if you've tested both. Which approach gave you better results?
