Update: My kimchi turned out way too fizzy after a warm week in the garage

Left it out for 4 days when the temp spiked to 80 degrees. Learned that heat really speeds up the ferment, now I'm moving it to the basement fridge sooner. Anyone else have a good spot for summer ferments?

Had a crazy good day at the shop in Springfield after a local news feature

A reporter from the Springfield Gazette did a piece on small businesses downtown last Monday, and they featured our flower shop. The phone started ringing at 8 AM and we ended up with 37 custom orders in a single day, which is triple our usual. It was wild but amazing, and we had to call in two extra helpers just to keep up. Has anyone else had a sudden rush like that from a bit of local press?

Spent $80 on the new Dune Blu-ray and it made me mad

Honestly, I bought it thinking the visuals would be worth it, but they cut so much from the book. The whole subplot with the dinner scene and the political stuff is just gone. For that price, I wanted the full story, not just the pretty shots. Anyone else feel like big movies just skip the best parts of the book to save time?

Just found out my 'green' lawn was a huge waste of water

My neighbor's cactus gave me a dirty look for wasting so much water. I set my sprinklers on a smart timer last year after a similar shock. It lets me water just before sunrise so less evaporates, and I can skip days when it rains. I also swapped some grass for rocks and native plants that don't need much. My bill dropped by almost half, and the only thing that died was my guilt.

My kid's AI tutor app just... stopped working right after the latest update. It was fine yesterday.

That's a cool point from @keithgibson. It could also be training us to spot patterns in noise, which is a real tech skill. So maybe there's a method to the madness after all.
