We almost lost our dream house in Austin because we didn't know about the 'pre-approval vs. pre-qualification' thing.

TIL my old 'pack everything' strategy was a $200 mistake

Two hundred bucks for Denver's souvenir t-shirt.

Dropped $400 on a laser level for a big commercial job and it's been a nightmare

Totally get that, old gear just works forever lol.

Had to choose between steel studs and wood for a Phoenix office build

We used a Milwaukee M12 cordless shear on a big Phoenix condo job and it was a total game changer. That thing cuts through steel studs like butter and keeps the pace up all day. The initial tool cost stings but you get it back fast with less crew fatigue and way fewer blade changes.

My brisket used to be a dry hockey puck until a guy in Austin told me to wrap it in butcher paper at 165, not foil.

Oh man, the butcher paper wrap is a total game changer, right? I was the same way, thinking foil was the only option. And @lee582 is spot on about the rest too. I started pulling at 203 and using a cooler, and it's like the meat just relaxes and gets even more tender. That wait is brutal but so worth it.

I was cleaning every board with isopropyl and a toothbrush for way too long

My old car had a weird electrical drain that kept killing the battery. I replaced the alternator and cleaned every ground connection, but it turned out to be the trunk light switch stuck on. You can look right at the problem and not see it.
