inThat expensive curing blanket I scoffed at saved my driveway last winter
Have you actually watched what happens to those tiny cracks after a few freeze-thaw cycles if water gets in them? I had a buddy who ignored his driveway crazing for years, then a couple of bad winters turned a few hairline cracks into actual chips and spalls. He ended up spending a lot more than $180 on patch kits that never really matched. How old is your driveway now, and what kind of winters do you get?

inThe time a 5-ton load swung 20 feet on a barge in Galveston last month
Why would you want that pendulum action with five tons swinging over water? I've been on barges where a hard pendulum caught the crane just right and damn near tipped us over. Gusts can double the swing radius real fast. On a stable dock I might agree, but on a barge you're fighting the load AND the deck moving under you. I always drop it slow and let the water absorb the energy. That high boom trick might work in a parking lot, but out on Galveston Bay it's a gamble I wouldn't take.

inSwapped my old Weller station for a TS100 iron and I'm not going back
Wait, is this really that big of a deal? I keep my Weller around for when my fancy USB iron craps out and I need something that just works.

inTook a city bus for the first time in 2 years yesterday in Pittsburgh... was pleasantly surprised
Wait, didn't I read somewhere that they actually cut some routes during the pandemic and then brought them back? I swear I saw a news article about them testing out those battery powered buses around that time too.

inVent: A client in Bali told me my WiFi setup was amateur hour and I was mad until I realized she was right
wait so the advice is just "stick your router to a window"? like the hotel guy is basically telling her to turn her router into a weird wall decal? I guess it sorta makes sense if the wifi signal is bad inside the room but still feels like something you'd see in a low budget spy movie. pretty wild that a random hotel employee is dropping lifehacks like that, maybe he's secretly a network engineer moonlighting as a maid or something.
