inJust hit 1000 hours on my conspiracy research and the flat earth stuff is only 2%
It's like that with hobbies too, the simple ones never last.

inFound out some plants can 'hear' caterpillars chewing and it blew my mind
Yeah, that's a solid point from @the_drew. Makes you wonder what we're actually ignoring every day. Like, do we ever stop to think about what a tree is actually doing, or do we just see it as a green thing that's there? Kind of a trip when you really sit with it. Feels like we're trained to see the world as a bunch of background props.

inQuestion about a surprising fact I found in a book club guide
Ugh, yes! We did the exact same thing last quarter. Spent two full meetings going in circles about who should lead the new project. Someone finally brought a baseball cap and we wrote names on scraps of paper. It was such a relief to just be done with it.

inAn old timer at the shop told me I was over-torquing injector lines on the 6.7 Powerstroke and it clicked
Actually, that click is the torque-to-yield spec. You're not supposed to go past it. The old timer was right, but for a different reason. Overtightening stretches the line and can cause a way worse leak later. It feels wrong if you're used to cranking on things, but that click is the final word.

inI thought a board game cafe would be full of gatekeeping snobs
Honestly, it's the quiet regulars who make that happen. They've seen new people freeze up and just want to stop that cycle. Their whole goal is to get more folks into the hobby, not keep them out.
