I was watching this tech YouTuber the other day who actually talked about this exact situation, said the app stores basically bank on people giving up because it's cheaper for them than fixing their broken refund systems. They mentioned that if you do a chargeback through your bank, the store will eventually refund you just to avoid the fees from the credit card companies, but it might get your account flagged or banned if you do it too much. That whole runaround you got with the bank telling you one thing and the store saying another is exactly what they count on to make you throw in the towel. For me personally, I'd probably just take the loss on eight bucks too because 45 minutes of my time is worth more than that, but it still burns me up knowing they're getting away with it.

Ah man, I gotta disagree a little bit here. I mean, I get that it's frustrating when something dies that quick, no doubt. But $80 for cordless clippers from a beauty supply spot is already kind of a gamble, you know? Most decent clippers in that price range are gonna be entry level at best. I've had a $60 Wahl last me like a year and a half with regular oiling and cleaning, and I only upgraded because I wanted a quieter motor. Maybe it's just me but I feel like people expect budget tools to perform like pro ones, and that's never really how it works. Sucks about the no returns policy though, that part is bogus for sure.
