Maybe the secret is that competition judges are all secretly dehydrated and desperate for electrolytes. That said, 2 cups sounds less like seasoning and more like a dry brine with extra steps, but if the bites were that good, I'd eat my own measuring cups out of shame.

Ngl I paint on the rough side too and honestly my acrylics do fine, I just use a lil more water or gesso first. Seems like one of those things people overthink, like the canvas police are gonna come measure your teeth or something.

Heavy duty zip ties will melt in the sun over time though, so check them after a few months. Carabiners are good, but swap the zip ties for stainless steel wire or UV rated ones.
