When my dispatcher pushed for a quicker turnaround

I was hauling a load cross-country and running behind schedule. My dispatcher called and suggested I trim my rest break to make up time. It's against the rules to drive over hours, but they said it's common practice. I felt stuck between keeping my job and following the law. I thought about the risks, like tiredness causing crashes. In the end, I stuck to the legal rest period. It cost me a delay, but I slept better knowing I did the right thing. For anyone in a tight spot, remember that shortcuts can backfire big time. Your license and rep are worth more than one late delivery.

Vent: Hitchhiking to save cash landed me in a polka parade.
