Just read that a huge number of digital art pieces are being used to train AI without the artists knowing

Spawning's report on 12 billion scraped images is the tip of the iceberg. I saw my friend's portfolio, which is set to private on ArtStation, get mirrored on a random sketch site and then appear in a dataset. The tools to opt out, like "Do Not Train" tags, are a joke because the companies scraping ignore them unless you find every single copy of your work online. It's turned posting art into a security problem.

Showerthought: I tried the 'cold turkey' way to stop checking my phone and it backfired big time

Ever try the total silence thing and find it made you check more? I was the same, all or nothing. Now I let texts from my wife and calendar alerts through. That little bit of noise actually made me less glued to the screen.

Question about the new paint booth at the trade show in Cleveland

That uneven floor vent thing is exactly what caught my eye at the Cleveland demo too. I watched them run a test panel and you could see a slight ripple in the overspray cloud down low. For a full van side, I'd be nervous about getting a dry spot or dirt sticking in a dead zone. I haven't pulled the trigger on one for our shop because of that.

Finally figured out why my book club hated my picks for 6 months straight

Wait, you spent a whole YEAR on that? That's some serious dedication to the cause, man. Honestly kind of impressive even if it didn't work. Most people would have given up after the first blank stare. The switch to true crime makes total sense though, it's like the universal backdoor into getting people to care about stories.

Finally chose a patio stone layout after staring at two samples for a week

Yeah, "lets the stone breathe" was the part I never got. I used to slap on the thickest sealer I could find and wondered why it looked worse. A good penetrating one makes all the difference.
