The grocery store self-checkout line is not a group project

I was at the store yesterday and watched a person with a full cart, maybe 30 items, go to the self-checkout. They then spent five minutes slowly scanning each thing while a line of six people built up. The rule is ten items or less, it's on the sign. It matters because now I'm late and the person with three things behind them is stuck. Does anyone else get annoyed when people ignore the item limit?

Ugh, that's the worst! I was behind someone last week who had a whole cart of groceries, including all those loose produce items you have to look up. The line got so long. Meanwhile, two regular lanes were totally empty because they only had cashiers for self-checkout. It just feels so rude, you know? Like, read the room and the big sign.

Oh man, that reminds me of my old truck's turn signal. The relay clicks twice as fast as it should, sounds like a frantic robot trapped in the dash. I just live with it now, but the first month I nearly ripped the whole column apart trying to fix the dang thing.
