Serious question, did you know your phone tracks places you haven't even opened an app for?

I was digging through my Google account's location history page last week and saw a list of 'places you've visited'. It had a gas station I drove past on my way to work three times, and a park my friend mentioned in a text. I never opened Maps or any location based app near those spots. The timeline said my phone just logged them because I was nearby. It made me think about how much quiet tracking happens just by carrying a device. Has anyone else checked their own history and found something that didn't add up?

My phone logged a pet store (I'm allergic to pets).

That "logged a pet store" thing is a perfect example of how our tech just guesses at our lives now. It's all algorithms making weird assumptions.
