inRant: That book club in Denver where nobody actually read the book
MAN, THAT DRIVES ME CRAZY. My friend Sarah went to a book club in Austin last year and the host straight up admitted she only read the Wikipedia summary of "The Goldfinch." Then like half the group said they just watched the movie instead. They spent the whole time arguing about whether the movie was better than the book. My friend said she just sat there drinking her coffee wondering why she even bothered finishing the 800 page novel.

inThat week in July when everything went wrong at once still haunts me
You ever have one of those weeks where the universe just throws a bunch of medium sized problems at you and you can't even be mad because they're not tragic, just exhausting? I had a stretch like that last summer. My water heater broke on a Tuesday, then my car's alternator died on the way home from the hardware store. Nothing life threatening, just a series of expensive inconveniences that had me sitting on the curb at 9 PM wondering if I had accidentally offended some kind of household appliance god. Your bank thing and AC and rush shipping sounds like that same vibe.

inShoutout to the guy in Chiang Mai who changed my mind about slow travel
Honestly, I used to think fidgeting was just a bad habit I needed to break. I always figured if I could just sit still like a normal person, I'd get more done. But reading this, @margaretj40, yeah, it kind of changes my mind. I've caught myself bouncing my leg when I'm really stuck on something, and I'd always try to stop it. Now I'm thinking maybe that movement was my brain's way of burning off that restless energy so I could actually think straight. Maybe forcing yourself to be still isn't always the answer, maybe it's just about finding what works for you.

inThat time a steel beam fell off the crane in 2017
Holding your coffee two minutes away doesn't mean anything... steel beams don't wait for nobody. The real issue is people getting too comfortable with their own "gut feelings" instead of trusting the actual rigging process. Every job site has rules for a reason, and if you start second guessing the crane crew every time, you're just slowing things down for everybody. Most close calls come from guys who think they know better than the engineers who designed the lift plan in the first place. You gotta trust the system or you're gonna drive yourself crazy checking everything yourself. Sounds like you got lucky, but that doesn't mean your way is the right way to do things going forward.

inJust realized I've been overthinking my morning coffee routine for months
Stopped trying to tweak my guitar tone for months. I had this whole pedalboard setup with exact settings on everything, thinking I needed that one perfect sound for recording. One day I just plugged straight into the amp with nothing else and hit record. Sounded raw and actually way more natural than all that processed stuff. Now I just set everything to noon and play. Half the time I spent was just tricking myself into thinking the details mattered more than just doing the thing.
