Showerthought: A friend pointed out I only watch adaptations from books I haven't read, which made me start reading the source material first.

After she said, 'You're just watching the movie's version of the story, not the author's,' I read 'Dune' before the new film and finally understood why fans were so protective of the internal monologues.

Oh man, that's so true! I did the same thing with The Witcher series, watched the first season and then tore through the books. The show cut so much backstory that changes how you see the characters. Now I'm scared to watch the new season because I know what they're probably leaving out. What book are you thinking of reading next?

Adaptations always cut stuff, that's just how it works. The show and books are different things, you can't fit 400 pages into eight episodes. I actually prefer watching first so the book feels like bonus material instead of getting mad about what's missing. Just enjoy each version for what it is.

Actually, the cuts usually make the story better.
