My go-to research site went down right in the middle of a big argument

Honestly, that's kind of why I don't rely on just one site. Tbh, I've had that happen with news sites during debates. My backup is just having a few different places bookmarked for the same kind of info. Like for stats, I might have the actual .gov page, but also a university page that cites the same data. It takes a minute to set up but saves you when one goes down.

I was stuck on a story for a week until my kid asked me a simple question

You're onto something, kai942. I see it in how people hold their phones or tie their shoes, those tiny tells that show who they really are.

Update: My background blur dropped during a company wide call

That "trade-off for digital privacy tools" is everywhere now, like smart locks failing.

Managers who push for fast repairs are killing our craft

My old boss in Cleveland used to make us use these ancient scanners that took ten minutes just to boot up. The techs would start guessing at codes before it even finished loading, just to feel like they were doing something. Half the time they were wrong and had to backtrack. A smooth process definitely stops that panicked guesswork.

Spent about $200 on a new winch line for my old Polaris and it saved my trip

Oh wow, that's a really good point about the abrasion! I totally get why you'd switch back. For me, the safety part is huge. A snapped steel cable is like a whip and can do some real damage, but if my synthetic line fails, it just drops. That peace of mind is worth the extra care around sharp stuff for my kind of riding. I just check it over more often and keep it clean.
