Looking at old family photos and seeing fewer cars on the street
In my experience, flipping through albums from my childhood in the late 80s, it strikes me how empty our suburban roads look. Back then, most families had one car, and kids like me walked or biked to school without a second thought. Now, when I visit the same area, every driveway has two or three vehicles, often bigger ones that guzzle more gas. Summers back then felt longer but less intense, and we never had news alerts about air quality days. My mom kept a compost pile for kitchen scraps, which seemed normal, not like a climate move. These days, I see neighbors putting in rain barrels and solar panels, trying to catch up. Your mileage may vary, but it feels like we lost some simple, good habits along the way. Now, with more awareness, we're scrambling to bring bits of that back to help the planet.

My 90s suburb still had lots of minivans for soccer practice, honestly.

Heard a story from my friend Jake about his mom's minivan back in the nineties. She used to cram the whole soccer team into that thing for away games. Your post @aaron150 instantly made me think of his crazy tales. Jake said they would slide around in the back with all the equipment rolling everywhere. It sounded like pure chaos but also the best time ever. Those minivans really were the heart of every sports group back then!
