I spent $400 on a fancy fire pit and honestly regret it

Everyone in this sub raves about those high end smokeless fire pits, so I bought one from a local shop in Portland last spring. It cost me $400 and honestly, my old $80 metal ring pit from the hardware store worked just as well for roasting marshmallows and keeping warm. The new one is nicer to look at, sure, but the smoke reduction is marginal at best and it takes forever to get a good bed of coals going. Has anyone else felt like these expensive pits are more hype than they're worth?

Sold my copy of Terraforming Mars after one play of Ark Nova

I had Terraforming Mars for about 3 years and played it maybe 10 times. It was fine but always felt like it dragged a bit. Then a friend brought over Ark Nova last month and wow, it just clicked way better for me. The action card system is way more flexible and the zoo theme is fun. I mean, I know both games are about engine building but Ark Nova just feels less repetitive. Has anyone else switched from one big game to another and felt like it was a straight upgrade?

For like 3 years I used the same wet lube on my commuter bike. Every week I'd clean the chain and reapply but the mud would just turn everything into grinding paste. After one particularly bad ride last April where my chain started skipping after only 40 miles, I switched to a wax drip lube that a mechanic at the co-op recommended. Now I only clean the chain maybe every 200 miles and shifting feels way smoother in wet conditions. Has anyone else noticed their cassette lasts longer with wax?

For years I always used my old Fluke multimeter to check compressor windings on fridges. Last month I picked up a clamp meter from HvacDirect for about $80 and it cut my diagnostic time in half. Now I just clamp the wire and read the start and run amps without breaking the circuit. Has anyone else made the switch and noticed a difference on tough calls?

Fade or shear lines - which one do clients hate more?

I saw a survey from a barber supply site last month that said 68% of guys would rather have a slightly uneven fade than any visible shear lines on top. That surprised me because I always thought people cared most about the fade blending perfectly. But the article made a point that shear lines stand out way more because they catch the light differently and look sloppy. I've been paying more attention to my blending shears since reading that. Do you focus more on smooth fades or making sure the top has zero lines?
