inThe self-checkout vs. the human cashier debate is missing the point
Ugh, the worst is when the machine just yells "unexpected item" for no reason...

inFinally realized why my monthly log felt so useless
But sometimes a mood is all you need. If "get organized" gets me moving, that's better than staring at a junk drawer I don't want to touch. The finish line can just be feeling less stressed.

inMy grandpa insisted a dab of toothpaste could fill a tiny paint chip, and after trying it on a '92 Civic in the shop, I spent an hour buffing minty fresh streaks off the clear coat.
Wait, he used toothpaste on a CAR? That's for teeth, man. My uncle swore by using super glue on everything, like a cracked phone screen. Just made a shiny, lumpy mess that fused his finger to it for a solid ten minutes. Some of these old school fixes are just wild.

inWorking on a 1920s house in Albany showed me why old cloth wiring needs a gentle touch.
Diana155 is right, it's a shock when you see it up close. A lot of people forget to check the condition of the wire inside the walls, not just at the fixture. That old cloth can be totally fine in a straight run but turn to dust at any bend or staple point. You really need to plan for a full rewire if you find more than one bad spot, patching it is just asking for trouble later.
