My grandpa insisted a dab of toothpaste could fill a tiny paint chip, and after trying it on a '92 Civic in the shop, I spent an hour buffing minty fresh streaks off the clear coat.

Has anyone else had a family member swear by a repair 'trick' that was just a complete disaster waiting to happen?

Wait, he used toothpaste on a CAR? That's for teeth, man. My uncle swore by using super glue on everything, like a cracked phone screen. Just made a shiny, lumpy mess that fused his finger to it for a solid ten minutes. Some of these old school fixes are just wild.

Toothpaste actually worked on my old headlight haze, no joke.
