Shoutout to the nurse who changed my mind about pre-care for peels

I was at a friend's house last weekend and her sister, who works in a dermatology clinic, was there. We got talking about chemical peels and I said I always tell people to just avoid sun for a few days before. She looked at me and said, 'That's like locking the barn door after the horse is gone. If you're not having them start a solid skincare routine with a gentle cleanser and a good moisturizer at least two weeks out, you're setting them up for a rough time.' It hit different because she sees the fallout when it goes wrong. She told me about a patient who came in with crazy redness after a peel because their skin barrier was shot from using harsh products. Now I'm rethinking my whole consult sheet. I'm adding a mandatory two-week pre-care plan. Has anyone else had a lightbulb moment like this from a different field?

Seems a bit over the top for a simple peel.
