inDolphin echolocation fact turned a quiet car trip into a chat
Sarah's onto something with the muddy water point. Echolocation helps dolphins see in dark or cloudy water where their eyes are useless. Sand probably messes up the sound waves too much for it to work well. They might use their noses to root around in the sand instead of relying on sonar. It's cool how they switch up their hunting based on the environment. Their real talent is making do with whatever the ocean throws at them.

inMy friend buys the same X-Men comic multiple times and I don't get it
Did your friend say if he actually reads all the copies or just owns them? Some people only care about collecting the different cover art, they don't open the extra books. It's a whole thing for collectors, they like having all the variants. I knew a guy who would buy three copies of the same issue just to frame one cover. Sounds weird but it's pretty normal for comic fans.

inMy recent experiment with paper soaking left me questioning conventional wisdom
Ugh, people treat watercolor like it's defusing a bomb sometimes. It's just paper, try it wet for some things and dry for others (or hey, slightly damp as a compromise). Not every painting needs to be a perfect manifesto.
