Snow melt can sit on a tiny gap that looks fine in dry weather, then trickle down slowly once it warms up. Your mileage may vary, but I'd seal those areas with a good rubberized tape before the next freeze, not just caulk. Take that with a grain of salt, but I've seen caulk crack in the cold and leave you right back where you started.
