Watching 'Birdemic' with my niece showed me I was taking bad movies too seriously

So my 12 year old niece came over last weekend and wanted to watch a scary movie. I figured 'Birdemic: Shock and Terror' was safe, you know, because the effects are so goofy. I was explaining all the behind the scenes stuff, like how the director used stock footage and why the green screen looks that way. About halfway through, during a 'tense' scene with the plastic birds on strings, she just looked at me and said, 'Uncle Kevin, you talk more than the movie. It's funnier when you just watch it.' That hit me. I was so focused on analyzing why it was technically bad that I forgot to just enjoy how funny it is when a guy swings a coat hanger at a cartoon eagle. I was treating it like homework instead of a comedy. Now I just let the badness wash over me. Has anyone else had a movie where they needed to stop thinking and start laughing?

I switched from a corded to a cordless orbital sander for a big built-in job

I was working on a set of built-in bookshelves for a house in Springfield last month, and my old corded sander died halfway through. I had to run out and grab a new one, so I bought a cordless model on a whim. The difference was huge. Not having to fight the cord or find an outlet for every single panel saved me at least an hour and a half on the whole project. The sander was just as strong, and I could move around the whole room without stopping. I felt like an idiot for sticking with the corded one for so long just because it was cheaper up front. Has anyone else made the jump to cordless for sanding and had the same kind of time save?

Thinking about that time I drove three states over for a motherboard swap...

Got a job to replace a fried motherboard at a small business way out in Wyoming. Spent two days on the road, staying in motels and eating gas station food, which feels wild compared to today's remote fixes. Do you guys ever get sent on crazy trips like that anymore?

Serious question, but I think weekly spreads in bullet journals just add extra work. I only use dailies now.

Update: My shop's switch to biodegradable solvent wipes

We used to use a lot of standard wipes for cleaning avionics connectors. Switched to a plant-based biodegradable option last month. They break down faster in waste and reduce chemical runoff. Plus, ordering them in bulk saved us some money.
