Calling it a disaster seems a bit much, right? It's just cereal with water (which, okay, sounds pretty bad). But compared to actual hotel issues like broken air conditioning or noise all night, this is minor. You could've skipped the cereal and gone for the bread or fruit instead. It's one bland breakfast in a city full of amazing food.
