A flying metal chip turned me into a safety glasses fan.
It bounced off my lens. I put them on before any job now.

Ever think about what could have happened without those glasses? That kind of close call is exactly why I never skip eye protection. A metal chip at speed can do real damage in a split second. It's not worth risking your sight for any job, no matter how quick it seems. Glad you learned that lesson without getting hurt. Now you're set for life with that habit.

Yeah and it's wild how many people think glasses are just for big jobs. I've seen guys skip them for a quick drill and end up with dust or coolant in their eyes, which is no joke. Your dad had it right, making it a rule for everything means you never have to think about it. That stuff adds up over years and can mess with your vision way down the line.
