Took me 4 months to figure out why my knitting kept curling
I was knitting a scarf with stockinette stitch and every single time I finished, the edges curled up like a taco. I kept trying different needles and looser tension. Just last week I realized it's just how stockinette behaves and you need a border or blocking. Has anyone else wasted this much time on something that basic?

Block that edge with a knit one purl one border, it fixes the curl instantly.

Did you try a different cast on method too? I had the same issue with a blanket I was working on last year. Drove me nuts for almost two months. The stockinette curl is just one of those things nobody tells you about when you start knitting. What finally worked for me was a simple garter stitch border on each side, about 4 or 5 stitches wide. That and a good wet blocking after finishing really flattened it out. You can also try a seed stitch border if you want something a little fancier.
