I kept buying those $10 plastic tube feeders from the hardware store in Des Moines and they'd crack after one winter. Finally broke down and got a steel mesh feeder with a metal roof from Wild Birds Unlimited for about $60. It's been two years now and it still looks new, plus the squirrels can't chew through it. Anyone else find that paying more upfront for outdoor gear actually costs less in the long run?
I was working on a gift for my sister in Portland, this little floral pattern with like 12 different green shades. Got halfway through the backstitch and realized I knotted the thread in three different places without noticing. Has anyone else had trouble with those cheap plastic bobbins from the craft store unwinding on you?
I was knitting a scarf with stockinette stitch and every single time I finished, the edges curled up like a taco. I kept trying different needles and looser tension. Just last week I realized it's just how stockinette behaves and you need a border or blocking. Has anyone else wasted this much time on something that basic?
