Rant: My neighbor saw my kraut jar and called it a 'science experiment gone wrong'

I was moving my 2-week sauerkraut from the counter to the fridge in my Chicago apartment, and she was in the hallway. She pointed at the jar, laughed, and said, 'That looks like something you'd find in a lab, not a kitchen.' It honestly killed my vibe for the whole day. Am I the only one who gets weird comments from people who just don't get fermentation?
