Got told I was cleaning heat sinks wrong and it saved me a ton of time

Honestly I was the same way. I always thought scraping with the coffee filter was fine until I tried the spudger method and felt like an idiot for wasting all that time before. Night and day difference for sure.

I finally gave in and tried taking the train instead of driving downtown

Not sure I'd call it "crazy" since most people are just trying to get through their day without overthinking every subscription or service fee. A lot of times the alternatives are worse in small ways that pile up too, it's just different tradeoffs. I guess if that tipping point gets you to switch, cool, but I've also seen people jump to something cheaper and then quietly switch back a few months later.

Appreciation post: How my neighbor's overgrown lawn turned into a actual garden in 8 months

And that bird bath probably brought in more bugs than you'd think. I've seen it a hundred times on calls. People let their yards go because they think it's too much work or money. But Frank proved you don't need a plan or a contractor. Just show up every day with a shovel and some seeds. A little water and patience goes a long way. Good on him for sticking with it.

Overheard a customer say they 'fixed' their own dent with a plunger

oh man, that plunger trick is all over youtube and it's honestly the worst advice for anyone. idk why people think hot water and suction is gonna magically fix metal. a buddy of mine tried the same thing on his truck door and ended up pulling the paint off in a big circle, plus the dent was still there. he came to me all frustrated and i was like, well, you just created a whole new problem. sometimes the cheapest fix ends up costing way more in the long run.

Our game night went from 3 people to a full table of 8 after we started a 'bring a newbie' rule last month.

Oh man, that warmup idea is genius. I actually just listened to a podcast where a game designer talked about how important it is to have that low stakes icebreaker before the real game starts. He said it lowers the "social pressure" of learning rules in front of everyone lol. That's probably why your table grew so fast. For me, I've had crazy good luck with The Resistance. It's so simple with just lying and accusing each other, and the rounds take like 10 minutes tops. People who never touch board games get super into it because it's more about reading people than strategy. Plus the table talks and argues the whole time so nobody feels awkward sitting in silence.
