I chose the cheap parking spot downtown and it cost me more than the garage

I had to pick between a $5 lot a few blocks away or the $12 garage right by the office. I went cheap to save cash, but a parking ticket on my windshield added another $45. Has anyone else had a 'savings' choice totally backfire?

Ugh that's the worst kind of math. I always check the street signs twice now because a lot of those cheap spots have crazy time limits. The ticket totally flips the savings.

Yeah, the stress cost is real.

Honestly, I read an article that said cities are making way more money from parking tickets than from actual parking fees. It feels like a trap sometimes, like they want you to risk the cheaper spot. Tbh I've done the same thing and spent the whole day stressed about my car, which isn't worth the few bucks saved. That hidden cost of worrying about a ticket just kills the deal.
