Vent: My sister's loose bedtime rules during family visits

Our families shared a house last weekend. Her kids stayed up way past midnight, but mine have a firm bedtime. I'm not sure if I should talk to her about it or just let it go.

I mean, this kinda thing happens all the time with family visits, right? Like, everyone has their own way of doing things, and it can get messy when you're all under one roof. I've noticed that a lot of parents just assume their rules are the normal way, and don't even think about how it hits others. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like there's this quiet fight sometimes, where letting kids stay up late is seen as more fun or easy going. It puts you in a hard place because if you say something, you're the strict one, but if you don't, your kids get upset. Idk, it's like we're all just trying our best, but these little bumps can really pile up.

Totally get that, @mary_kelly. It's a no win spot where your routine gets messed up. You just have to pick your battles and figure out what's worth saying.
