Spent $80 on a compost bin and it's actually working (for once)
I've tried the whole 'pile in the corner of the yard' thing a few times and it just became a gross, smelly mess that attracted raccoons. So this spring, I finally bought a proper, closed compost bin for about eighty bucks. I was sure it was going to be another waste of money and space. But you know what? Having a real system made me actually follow the rules (browns, greens, turn it every week). Now, a few months in, I'm not sending nearly as much food waste to the landfill and I'm getting actual dirt for my garden. It feels good, but I also feel a little silly for how long I resisted spending the money on the right tool. Has anyone else had a simple purchase finally click and change a small habit for the better?

You mentioning the "right tool makes the job easy" is so true. I see it all the time with people trying to trim a big branch with a handsaw when a pole saw would take two minutes. The right gear just gets you to actually do the thing instead of fighting it.

Exactly what @sandragonzalez said. I watched my neighbor struggle for an hour with a dull hatchet on a small tree root last weekend. I finally walked over and lent him my digging bar, and he popped it out in like three hits. He just looked so defeated before that, and then totally shocked after. Having the wrong thing just kills your will to even start a project sometimes.
