Found a $20 bill in a parking lot and kept it without asking around
I was leaving the grocery store in Phoenix last Saturday and saw a $20 bill on the ground near my car. Nobody else was around at that moment, just a couple of people walking way off. I picked it up and looked around for a second, but I didn't see anyone looking for lost money. So I just put it in my pocket and went home. Later I started wondering if I should have turned it into customer service or something. But then I figured, it's probably from a random person who already left, and the store workers would just keep it anyway. Still feels weird though. Has anyone else found cash in a parking lot and had to decide what to do with it?

Yeah, that part about "the store workers would just keep it anyway" is what got me thinking. I used to be all for turning stuff in but you're right, slim chance the right person ever sees it again. This actually changes my mind on the whole thing honestly, I'd probably do the same now.

$500 in cash sitting on a Target shelf, you really think the guy stocking toothpaste is gonna run after you? Nah, he's probably already mentally spending that on takeout. I once found a wallet in a Walmart parking lot with like 40 bucks in it, turned it in, and the lady at customer service gave me this look like "you're an idiot for even bringing this here." Probably tossed it in the break room for someone to "misplace" later. So yeah, you're making the right call. Finders keepers, especially when the store's just gonna pocket it themselves.
