Showerthought: Everyone says to join a local group, but mine took 9 months to actually help

I kept hearing how a good network solves problems fast, but finding the right people who actually understood my niche in e-commerce was the real grind. Has anyone else found that building a useful circle takes way longer than the advice makes it sound?
