Pro tip: A quick chat at a Denver coffee shop changed how I see networking
I was grabbing coffee before a big move job and got talking with another business owner, a woman who runs a small print shop. She said, 'I stopped collecting business cards and started asking one question: What's blocking you right now?' I tried it at the next chamber event, asking a landscaper that exact thing. He opened up about a truck issue, and I knew a great mechanic. That one intro felt more useful than a stack of cards. How do you start real talks at networking things?

That "what's blocking you" question is so good because it skips the small talk. I've found asking "what's a small win you had this week?" works too, it gets people talking about actual work instead of just titles.
