Vent: My sister's new kitchen backsplash made me rethink my whole tile game
I was over at my sister's place in Springfield last weekend, helping her move a fridge. She just had her kitchen redone and put in this subway tile backsplash. It looked good from across the room, but up close, the grout lines were all over the place, some tiles were crooked, and you could see big gaps in the corners. She said the contractor did it in one afternoon. It hit me that I've been rushing my own tile jobs too, trying to finish in a day. I spent 6 hours last month tiling a small bathroom floor and still wasn't happy with it. How do you guys pace yourselves on a tiling project to make sure it's actually straight?

My buddy rushed his shower tile and it looked like @diana155's uncle's mess.

Remember my uncle's bathroom reno where he rushed and had to redo the whole wall.

Has your uncle ever looked at a half-finished wall and said "you know what, let's just hope for the best"? I once did the same thing hanging a shelving unit and now my books have a slight lean to them (kind of adds character though). Definitely learned that patience is cheaper than drywall compound.
