Paid $50 for a burner phone, best privacy move I ever made

My regular phone kept leaking location data to apps I barely used. The burner costs nothing to maintain and keeps my real identity separate from sketchy sites. Anyone else run a second device just for privacy?

My buddy tried this with a $30 Tracfone and it just ended up being another thing to charge and keep track of. @thea704 I get why it works for some people but honestly between the prepaid cards and the hassle of carrying two phones I'm not convinced it's that much better than just tweaking permissions on your main device.

My buddy Mark bought a burner from a gas station for $40 after his banking app kept pinging his location to some shady ad network. He started using it for all his sketchy signups and even for buying stuff on Craigslist. His main phone didn't have any weird permission issues after that, and his battery life got way better too. He says it's the best $40 he ever spent because now his real number isn't tied to every random website he visits. I'm thinking of doing the same thing honestly, just to keep my work stuff separate from my personal junk.
