Hit 10,000 spam emails in my filter and it made me think twice

I checked my Gmail spam folder last week and saw the counter at 10,432. That's over ten thousand messages blocked since I made that account in 2019. It got me wondering how much data Google is actually scanning to decide what's spam and what's not. I mean, we trade privacy for convenience every day, but seeing that number makes you realize how much of your inbox is being watched. Has anyone else hit a crazy milestone like that and felt weird about it?

Honestly, the part about "how much data Google is actually scanning" is what got me. That number makes it so real how much they're digging through our stuff.

That part about "how much data Google is actually scanning" really sticks with me too, @nancy820. It's one thing to know they're filtering spam, but seeing that huge number makes it feel like they're sorting through every single word you send and receive. What gets me is how that scanning probably shapes what ads and suggestions pop up for you too, which makes the whole setup feel even more connected than most people realize.
