Got called out by a librarian in Portland for sharing my reading history

I was at a used book sale last weekend and casually mentioned how much I love the library's digital checkout stats, and the librarian running the booth got real serious and said I was basically handing Overdrive a map of my brain. Has anyone else ever thought about how much of your personal life gets tracked just through what you read?

The library in my town (Salem, Oregon) keeps paper lists of what people check out and shreds them after two weeks. Did that librarian mention if Overdrive actually sells that data to publishers or keeps it to themselves?

That's smart of them, I wish more places took privacy that seriously.
