inRemember when you could actually fix a shutter with just a screwdriver and a steady hand?
22 years ago when I started at the shop, we didn't have diagnostic computers at all. You had to listen to the engine, check the spark plugs, and actually know how fuel systems worked. These days I can plug in a scanner, get a code, swap a sensor in 10 minutes, and the customer is back on the road. That's a win for everyone including me, cause I can do three of those jobs in the time it used to take me to fix one carburetor.

inThe time my hostel booking fell through in Barcelona at 11 PM
Yeah @kai657 that's fair but who's thinking about calling ahead when you've got a confirmed booking? I always screenshot the confirmation and call the morning of now, saved me twice in Rome and Lisbon.

inI finally asked my neighbor about his weird lawn sprinkler pattern
Patience and a long garden hose saved me there.

inChanged my mind about cold emailing after a roofer in Ohio called me out
A friend of mine in Michigan ran into this same thing with a drywall contractor. He had been sending generic emails about estimating software until the guy finally told him, just like @king.aaron's landscaper story, that his real problem was keeping his truck stocked for each job. That one conversation shifted his whole approach from shouting into the void to actually listening.

inI was totally skeptical about audiobooks counting as reading for book club...
Disabled folks have entered the chat" is right. My friend has a vision thing and audiobooks are literally the only way she can read for fun now, she's so grateful for them.
