Overheard a client say 'AI wrote our strategy' and I wanted to walk out

Was sitting in a coffee shop last week and two guys from some boutique agency were bragging about how they just fed their client's history into ChatGPT and called it a 'data-driven roadmap.' The client paid them $8,000 for that. I think we're in trouble if this becomes normal. How do you even compete with someone selling cut and paste work?

Wouldn't that have been satisfying though, @daniel214? I bet they would have had some slick excuse about "augmenting human creativity" or whatever.

Totally get what you're saying @willow_martin. It's like that whole thing with "smart" water bottles that tell you when to drink. Like, we forgot how to listen to our own bodies because a company needs to sell us a gadget. This whole "augmenting human creativity" excuse would be the same type of thing, just a fancy way to make us feel broken so they can sell us the fix. Probably would have been a whole presentation about it, too.

Did you ever call them out on it?
