I used to see a lot more aerial drops on my route in Tampa

Last week I was working a new neighborhood and every single house had underground conduit. Three years ago, I'd say half my jobs needed a pole climb or a ladder. Now it feels like maybe one in ten. The builders are putting in the pipes before the slab even goes down. Has anyone else seen this shift in their area?

My old condo complex in St. Pete was all poles. I thought it was fine, honestly. Then a storm last year took out lines for three days. The new place I moved to has everything buried. Power was back in hours. That was the moment for me. Can't argue with the results.

My old neighborhood in Orlando was all poles, I swear I had to climb one just to check my own mail. The new subdivision they built behind it looks like a spider web got buried, it's all underground. I'm honestly relieved, my fear of heights means my best pole climb looks like a baby giraffe on ice skates. The builders are definitely pushing it hard as a selling point for the new homes. It just makes the old aerial sections look like a mess in comparison.

So are we just gonna ignore how weird it is that the future is a bunch of empty plastic tubes in the dirt? Feels like the builders are just setting up a sweet, sweet cable run for the mole people to take over... I mean, it's great for storms, but my ladder is getting lonely.
