I finally finished reading Dune before watching the new movie and it took me 6 months to get through it
Between my delivery route taking up 10 hour days and having to restart the book three times because I kept falling asleep during the political stuff, I barely made it to page 200 before the movie came out, but has anyone else found that knowing the book's ending completely changes how you see the film's visual storytelling?

and then I saw this video essay breaking down how Denis Villeneuve uses color to tell you whose perspective you're in. Like the whole first act on Caladan has this warm golden light, but the minute they hit Arrakis it shifts to this harsh orange and brown. That sunken feeling when you realize Paul's visions are basically spoilers for the whole book, the film uses that exact dread by showing you flashes that don't make sense until you've read the full story. I think the sandworm riding scene hits way different when you know it's not just a cool action beat, it's the moment Paul stops being a kid and becomes the thing the Fremen have been waiting for. The movie trusts you to catch those visual cues without spelling everything out.

Totally agree @zara447, caught that color shift myself and it completely changes how you see Paul's arc.
