Tried blind baking with frozen pie weights and got a soggy bottom anyway

Used the frozen chain method from that viral video. Let them sit in the crust for 20 minutes before baking. Still ended up with a wet mess on the bottom of my apple pie. What trick actually works for you?

Wait you let FROZEN pie weights sit in the crust for 20 minutes BEFORE baking? That's basically just letting the condensation soak right into the dough before it even hits the oven.

82 degrees Fahrenheit and 80% humidity is what my kitchen hit last July when I tried pre-baking a crust with frozen pie weights. Let me tell you, that condensation turned the bottom into a pasty mess before the oven even had a chance. I spent the next 20 minutes scraping slimy dough off the weights and muttering things that would make my grandmother blush. Learned my lesson the hard way - now I always let them sit on the counter for 10 minutes first.
