I was cleaning flux wrong for years until a guy in Anchorage called me out

I mean, I always just used the standard isopropyl and a brush, thinking it was fine if the board looked clean. But last month, working on a G1000 unit, this old timer from Alaska pointed out the faint white residue under my UV light. He said 'kid, that's active flux, it'll eat your traces in a year.' I had no idea my 'clean' boards were basically time bombs. Has anyone else switched to a specific flux remover they trust for long term avionics work?

Wait, he was using a UV light to check? That's next level, I've never even thought of that. I just eyeball it and call it good. Makes me wonder how many of my old projects are secretly dissolving. What flux remover did he tell you to use instead?

That UV trick from Alaska is like murray.rowan said, next level.
