Finally figured out why my coax cables kept failing after 4 months on the ramp in Phoenix
Turns out the other techs were using the standard crimp connectors instead of the mil-spec compression ones that handle the heat cycles better. Has anyone else run into this with the cheaper connectors on 737s or is it just our hangar?

Oh yeah, I've seen that exact same meltdown pattern on the 737s out of Vegas. Those standard crimp connectors just don't hold up with the constant expansion and contraction in the heat.

Damn straight, that heat cycle just cooks the life right out of em.

Well hell yeah, I've seen that exact mess in our hangar too. Those standard crimp connectors just cook themselves to death when you're cycling between 120 degrees on the ramp and 60 at altitude every single day. Did your guys bother to check if the center conductor was actually staying centered before the failures, or were they just slapping them on and hoping for the best? Because I've had to retrain half my crew on proper strip lengths and insertion depth before we even got to the connector type issue.
