Just realized I was wrong about using a 3/8 impact for everything after a veteran tech in our Renton shop told me 'that's a great way to snap a $40 bolt on a transfer case'

I was struggling with a seized caliper bracket bolt on a Tacoma and he walked over, handed me a long-handled 1/2-inch breaker bar, and said to use my weight, not the gun's torque, which got it loose without a single click.

My old shop foreman in Tacoma swore by his 3/8 gun for everything and never had an issue.

Gotta wonder if that's just old school stubbornness though. A 1/2 inch gun exists for a reason.
